Tibetan Monasteries – Don’t Miss to See During Your Tour to Manali
Himachal Pradesh is also famous for some of the religious spots, especially Buddhist monasteries – mainly in Dharmshala, inner parts of Himachal Pradesh, at the border line with Tibet, Manali and Ladakh (J&K). Manali is also one of the beautiful hill stations witnessing presence of Tibetan monastery – the main tourist spot – famous for weaving different and colorful carpets. The sacred monastery has been established and set up after heavy influx of Tibetan refugees who have settled in Kullu & Manali. The wonderful monastery is also famous for handicraft of Tibetan artistry and carpets that are sold inside the premises. Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa in Manali is one of the important one constructed in the year of 1969 to represent the Tibetan style of architecture designed with hued frescos.
Being one of the main tourist attractions here, it always lures tourists from across the world and persuades them to spend more time here. You will find Lamas here who are trained as preachers and performers of religious rites in the monastery. It is also famous for running a school of art and a carpet weaving center. You will see different paintings here depicting Lord Buddha’s Life. Not forget to rotate Manne as Buddhist believes that rotating Manne gives you salvation.
Don’t miss to visit another monastery named Pangran at the distance of 8 km from Patlikuhl – a small town on National Highway. You will also find Tibetan monasteries in Dharmshala, McLeodGanj and other parts of Himachal Pradesh where schools to preach the religion are also run.
